Forest City Tool is located in the vicinity of Hickory, North Carolina in the small incorporated area of Longview.
1890 is the year, Forest City Tool began in Rockford, Illinois by the Erickson family. In 1957, the company moved operations to Hickory, North Carolina near the site of the current plant. In 1974, the plant moved operations less than one mile to a new 80,000 square foot facility where the plant continues to operate.
Robert Bosch Corporation was the owner of the company until April, 2003 when the plant was closed temporarily, then purchased and re-opened in July, 2003 by William and Bobbie Whiteside who are also part owners and founders of Whiteside Machine (manufacturing of quality, industrial grade router bits).
William (Bill) Whiteside returned to his roots, in a manner of speaking, by purchasing and re-opening Forest City Tool. Mr. Whiteside was first introduced to Forest City Tool in 1964 as an employee. After learning each of the tooling processes, he went on to establish Whiteside Machine. He and his wife Bobbie have created a very reputable business through Whiteside Machine and intend to carry their philosophy for top quality and a fair price to their sister company Forest City Tool. They pride themselves in the fact that both companies produce American Made products.
The philosophy at Forest City Tool is to continue the long tradition of Forest City Tool and provide the highest quality of American made boring tools and bits at reasonable prices.
